Volodymyr Morgun (born 23 March 1947, Donetsk) is a Ukrainian psychologist, scholar and educator, Candidate of Psychological Sciences (PhD equivalent), Professor, founder of the scientific school “Psychology of the Multidimensional Personality”, and Editor-in-Chief of a scientific journal.
In 1971, he graduated from the Faculty of Psychology of Lomonosov Moscow State University with a degree in Psychology (qualification: psychologist, lecturer in psychology). In 1979, he was awarded the degree of Candidate of Psychological Sciences. Since 1980, he has been a co-founder and Head of the Department of Psychology at Poltava V. G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University, a position he held until 2012. Since 2001, he has served as Professor of the Department of Psychology. In 2020, he was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of Poltava V. G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University, and in 2019 – Honorary Professor of the N. A. Nazarbayev Intergovernmental Institute of Ukrainian-Kazakh Relations (Kyiv). He is a co-founder and member of the editorial board of the academic journal “Psychology and Personality” (Category B, Poltava-Kyiv, since 2012).
Since 1984, he has led the scientific school “Psychology of the Multidimensional Personality”. He is the author of a multidimensional theory of personality and its developmental periodisation in ontogenesis. His research interests include developmental and educational psychology, higher education psychology, psychodiagnostics (approximately 20 diagnostic methods developed), psychodidactics (five types of integration and differentiation of education: tempo-based, emotional, profile-based, level-based, and activity-formative), motivation of learning and interpersonal relationships, lifelong career guidance, as well as the history of psychology and pedagogy, including Makarenko studies.
He is the author and co-author of approximately 400 scientific publications, including works indexed in international scientometric databases such as Scopus (3) and Web of Science (9). His major works include The Problem of Personality Periodisation in Psychology, For Parents and Teachers on Adolescent Psychology, Intedifia (Integration and Differentiation of Education), Fundamentals of Psychological Diagnostics, The Delinquent Adolescent, Anton Makarenko – Hero and Outcast of Ukrainian Pedagogy, Psychosurgery of Defamation, The Vernadskian Noospheric Revolution in Solving Ecological and Humanitarian Problems, as well as collective monographs of the Vernadsky Laboratory (2021–2025).
For his significant contribution to education and science, he has been awarded numerous state and professional honours, including the honorary title “Honoured Worker of Education of Ukraine” (2014), “Excellence in Public Education of the Ukrainian SSR” (1984), and the badges “Anton Makarenko” (2007) and “For Scientific and Educational Achievements” (2014), along with numerous certificates of merit and commendations.
