Psychometric validation of the I‑PC‑5 index of psychological culture

Abstract

The relevance of the study is determined by the need for a valid and reliable instrument for assessing psychological culture as an integrative personal and professional resource in under conditions of contemporary social transformations and professional challenges in educational environments. The purpose of the study was the psychometric validation of the complex psychological diagnostic instrument “Index of Psychological Culture of Personality (I-PC-5)”. The study was based on a multidimensional theoretical model of psychological culture and employs confirmatory factor analysis using the weighted least squares estimator with mean and variance adjustment, evaluation of model fit indices (Comparative Fit Index, Tucker-Lewis Index, Root Mean Square Error of Approximation, Standardised Root Mean Square Residual), and assessment of internal consistency using Cronbach’s alpha and McDonald’s omega coefficients The results demonstrated that the five-factor firstorder model shows a satisfactory fit to the empirical data, confirming the theoretical structure of the construct. The second-order hierarchical model also exhibited acceptable fit indices, supporting the presence of a general latent factor representing psychological culture as an integrated personal resource. All factor loadings were statistically significant and indicated a substantial contribution of each component to the overall construct. Internal consistency indicators for all scales exceeded the recommended threshold values (α and ω ≥ .70), demonstrating high reliability. In addition, moderate correlations between the factors confirmed their conceptual distinctiveness while supporting the multidimensional structure of the construct. The obtained results indicate that the instrument provides a stable and theoretically grounded measurement of psychological culture. The instrument can be applied in empirical research, monitoring studies, and psychological support programmes for educators and other professional groups
